A Breath Away series explores my breath as a vehicle for creating impressions on canvas. Using household plastic wrap and my breath, the series studies the boundaries between the ephemeral and concrete, being and non-being, and infinite and finite.

The title A Breath Away refers to the physical, as well as the spiritual distance between the canvas and me. It references the idea in Eastern philosophy that finding the Self, the source of creation is just a breath away. In my paintings, my breath embodies a primordial gesture of life, while the abstract marks express the unfathomable multiplicities within life. The aggregated marks symbolize life, embodying the phenomena of all things that are in motion and ever changing.
